View Location Map Inside the crater of a dormant volcano, Tower Hill Game Reserve in south-west Victoria is a haven for wildlife, a fascinating ecological site and a showcase for Aboriginal history. Within its crater rim a number of volcanic cones rise from a lake-bed in a formation known as a nested maar volcano. Artefacts found in exposed ash layers show that Aboriginal people were living in the area at the time of the eruption, some 30,000 years ago.
